Scowling elderly person wondering what all these crazy young things are doing hanging about her square... My entry for the Street Photography Now challenge... Unless I can pull a hat out of a rabbit tomorrow...
It has been a week of spectacular misses... couldn't grab my camera fast enough to catch the dog-walker getting tangled in the leashes... the shot of two ladies conversing while texting just looked boring, and totally screwed up a shot of a guy with a fabulous mohawk walking his dog as he passed a very straightlaced older couple...
Great eye! I love this, especially the look on the woman's face. I had a great miss yesterday, too. It was a well-dressed older man (very traditional with a suit jacket and hat) resting very tired-like against a handicap parking sign. It was truly picturesque. But I was in my car. On a busy city street. I would have loved to have seen the dog walker tied up in leashes!
You are so good at these shots! You caught her at just the right moment, and I like all the hustle and bustle going on around her....fantastic job! :-)
I am imagining your other shots and had your timing been right (especially on the last one) they would have been brilliant I'm sure. You're still many, many steps ahead of me as far as street photography goes. I still haven't ventured out but intend to do so when I go on holiday. I'm hoping I'll feel less self conscious then. Another fab street shot here xx
Street photography is definately hit and miss and so many times that I wish I'd caught a person or expression.
I do love this...the 'now' above the trolley is perfect. I am loving your photos Northy :)
tx so much everyone for looking and commenting and all the positive feedback... i have to say that i'm not really sure if that scowl was meant for me, or for the "scene" in general... i actually have a couple other shots where she is moving up to the stage where all the hip kids are hovering waiting for a band to play... it was quite touching in real life, but didn't translate onto the image... :)
@maggiemae yeah... but you probably wouldn't be scowling at the photographer, now would you? ;p
@cmc1200 Caryn... the dog walker was just sooooo classic... even before she got the leashes tangled up...
@psychographer tx Lisa... just remember that i have the luck of the draw when it comes to location... there are so many spots near my office where there are tons of crowds and photographers, and wierdness is the norm... so it's easy to just blend in and no one seems to care... i can't imagine how i'd manage in a smaller town or community...
This is a nice candid shot. Obviously the lady isn't smiling, but I do not know that she is scowling. Perhaps gravity has simply taken its toll over time and she looks like this when expressionless.
Great shot! Sometimes I wish I had the camera firmly fastened to my head for all the wonderful stuff I'd like to take photos of but am either not quick enough, or don't have time to stop and get set up!
