This is an area of photography that really appeals to me... I haven't done much to date, as my time is limited and in general, i think this is one area of photography where i'd really prefer having someone else there to watch my back...
This morning I went to the Westwood, an abandoned drive-in movie theatre in West Toronto... unfortunately, I couldn't get inside easily, and i wasn't set up to try very hard... around back where there's a variety of odds and ends and detritus, including some bins set up as a homemade homeless cat shelter (there was a sign and everything!)...
View large if you are interested in "in your face" grittiness ;p
Oi, I think this is fabulous! Not only are the detail and focus great, but the contrast is shamelessly playing with my mind. It feels like something horrid is going to jump out of the space on the left. You did great!!!
I completely agree with you! I am very intrigued by this type of photography! Like you, I find myself in sketchy areas wishing I had someone with me! I've survived so far! :o)
Hi there - i'm your get pushed partner this week - your photos are awesome so hard to think of something you haven't done! So i'm going to give you a challenge of light painting - i'm sure you'll have some goodies!!
you should've told me. i could've been your photowalk buddy. i can wield pretty good the hospital-issued cane which i inherited from partner's mother if anyone buggers you. plus the cane would've been useful to poke at things neither of us would want to touch. tee-hee! i may be old, but i could still be useful, ya knows!.
sheez, forgot about the photo. this is so "northy". only you can show an artistic perspective to something like this. and perspective is what make things like this look like a million dollars.
@russianblue@summerfield we need a list of locations for urban ex... the Westwood is fine as far as it goes, but there isn't huge amounts to it... i kind of did the circuit in 20 minutes... i could have maybe eeked out another 10 or so, but that's about it... unless of course we could figure out a way to get inside... there were a couple of "holes" which i *might* be able to fit thru, but it would be a squeeze ;p
@tnaki yikes! i've never tired that before... mostly 'cos i can't draw worth a damn... but this will be an excellent opportunity to give it a go... tx!!!
I'd love to have a go at this but I'm simply not that brave.
this is a great shot and looks super good enlarged :-)
