my 13 year old on his way to his grade 8 graduation... the suit cost an arm and a leg and i figured the least he could do is pose for me ;p
as a total aside, i am curious - do folks want processing details? i do very often ETSOOI my shots into submission, and i've been known to play liberally in PSE and nik silver efex... i don't mind in the least disclosing what i've done... i just mostly don't bother because i'm laaaaaazy...
fwiw, my twilight zone shot from yesterday was a single shot with very minimal processing... the effect was achieved my taking a picture of the laptop screen while shooting tethered...
shooting tethered, i've discovered, allows for tremendous amounts of precision in focussing (for non-moving subjects)...
Good looking guy and you've created a wonderful portrait; I really like the processing -- I'm glad I checked my home feed before closing and yours was at the top! So, I'm one who would like info on your processing simply because I find yours to be so artistic and well-conceived, so selfishly (as I know it takes time), I know I'd learn a lot.
That's a lovely portrait- he looks quite shy in it. I'd be interested in knowing your processing details - when you have time to include them - as you create such amazing effects
Great portrait. Tell him he looks fantastic. I'd be interested in your processing techniques, also interested in shooting tethered. May need to look that up
@amyspada tx Amy... he's a great kid! as for tethering - yup, got me a macbook pro... so far i've only used the canon software that came with my camera - and that seems to work quite well... i have to figure out how to get lightroom from my pc to the mac... i am pretty sure i should be able to re-download it onto the mac, but i can't figure out how...
@northy Why not write directly to Adobe and ask how to go about it? Customer service or what not. Congrats on the MBP... You will love it. I am on my third machine now. Really wouldn't settle for anything else. I must try this tethering thing eventually... sounds fun!
Good looking boy in a fine, fine suit! As for your question regarding details on processing, I always appreciate it because I learn so much by reading them.
I love this portrait - it has a touch of Prince William as a youngster (only better looking) I think it's the slight reticence of his pose and manner - Very elegant and slightly reserved - The slightly dropped pov contributes greatly to this effect.
I'm a mad ETSOOI Fan and about to be gifted with a copy of PS so I would love details on your various processings - but my first question is whether tethering is possible using a laptop or only with a MBP? - My eyesight is aging noticeably as I type and your comment about increased focus interested me immediately.
@kittikat I'm pretty sure you can tether w either pc or Mac... I used the software that came w my camera, but there may be other software that works as well... Just make sure you are using software that controls the camera... Not one that just transfers the pictures over immediately after they were taken...
Great shot. Myself, ETSOOI as an end in itself I don't admire. Being clever just for the sake of being clever doesn't seem worth the effort. But if there is a clear point to the effort then have at it.
I love the etsooi but I don't know if I'm organized enough to follow someone's directions. I like knowing I can ask if something ever strikes me though.
@edie y'well... i was actually think less about instruction and more about full disclosure... i wrote that around the time there were several threads on the PP, the fact that the photos weren't "real" (i.e: over processed) and akin to chicken mcnuggets...
@edie right back atcha! and no - i don't really feel a need to disclose - but then again, i don't feel a need to mislead (nor a need to apologize)... ;p
As for your total aside... How did you end up tethering? Did you invest in a Mac laptop? What program are you using? LR?
