it was my mom's birthday the other day, so i brought the leftover balloons to the beach this morning...
this is not at all the image that i had planned... in my head, i had a dark and possibly black and white image shot during blue hour... but (a) i overslept, and (b) i didn't count on the wind (i was shooting in a different spot) mucking things up... so that didn't work... and this kinda did... (i think)...
Perfect. I don't know what has happened since I've been gone but you appear to be using more colour...I like it :o) Not that I don't love your dark shots too but the occasional splash of colour is really nice xx
This could still work in b/w, but I like the way the red balloons stand out in this version. Maybe a b/w with extra contrast and sc on the red balloons? It's good the way it is- let it be!
@olivetreeann tx Ann... i'm not a huge fan of selective colour - although i agree it works in certain circumstances... i did consider it, but didn't think it would work for me for this particular image :)
@summerfield people rarely talk to me... i mean, would you trust someone dressed in a parka at 7am lugging a tripod and two balloons around the waterfront? ;p
Love this shot!! FAV!! I know you mostly do B&W, and were going for something darker and more ominous, but there are still overtones of that with the two bright red balloons on the right, and the sharp needle of the building on the left that could destroy them! Love the tension between the two objects.
