@taffy no Jedi mind tricks here :). This is just a pair of 3D glasses - the kind the hand out at the movies.... sitting on my iPad with the SoftBox pro app running for the light...

@marijbar tx Marij... I really don't know what to tell you except that I sit on the floor and play with a prop and some light until I get something I like... I do pay a lot of attention to light and shadow, and generally use props that are neutral in colour and/or just one colour... I tend to use the rule of thirds for composition and aim to have the brightest light at one of the "thirds" in a spot that draws the eye in... does that make any sense?
