for "get pushed" this week, Junko (@jyokota) challenged me to: "capture a macro nature shot and post it without editing anything", to "use (my) camera settings to produce (the) image instead of relying on post-production editing"
for anyone who follows me, you know i've become pretty much addicted to post processing so this is a humongous challenge for me...
not sure the above is quite what Junko had in mind, but it was shot with my macro lens up close, and i did not do a thing with what came out of the camera (not even a crop)...
before shooting i set up the picture style... obviously this was shot using the monochrome setting... i think i had sharpness as high as it would go, but in experimenting with contrast, i think this one was above the factory setting contrast, but not as high as the contrast would go... i also experimented with the in-camera filters and decided i liked the red filter the best.... and of course i picked the dof and shutter speed...
the nice thing about this challenge is that there was comparatively little to mull over after pulling the images off the camera... just a question of deciding which ones to post... yes - there's two... the other is in my other album :) http://365project.org/northy/365/2013-09-03
you did surprise me because i had in mind a close up of a colored flower or bug or something. But I love that you interpreted it to be so you in final image! The veins are nicely shown, and you did some great choice-making of in-camera settings!
Looks like it is ready to walk away. I love the detail you've gotten in the composition, I especially love the shadow and it even has a tail. I know I'm weird in what I see. Great composition, it really got my imagination going.
I love the delicateness of the leaf! Contrasts nicely with the strong light/shadows :) I think it's an exceptional example of using the camera alone to achieve the look you're after :)
