It’s better to be a lion for a day than a sheep all your life
@jacqbb set me this quote for my push challenge... apparently the quote originated with Elizabeth Kenny, "a self-trained Australian bush nurse who developed a new approach for treating victims of polio..." i haven't come across anything to give context for the quote, but i can't say i searched very far... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Kenny
however, it's also been attributed to Mussolini and apparently "liked" by Trump... really not sure what to make of that...
anyhoo... I struggle to figure out what it means... i get that it's about one day of greatness being better than an eternity of mediocrity - but if you have only one day of greatness... what are you doing the rest of the time?
this is also for week 12 of the 52Frames challenge... this week it's window light with extra credit if you work a mirror in there somewhere 🙃
@jacqbb - thank you Jacqueline! i found this challenge quite fascinating... i spent quite a bit of time pondering the meaning of the quote and what i would do with it 🙂
@northy Maybe it's not a one time question, maybe it's a decision you make every day, "Today am I going to be a lion, or will I continue with more days of sheepishness?"
I really like the allusions, the pawn dreaming of being the king. Would you mind answering a question about '52frames'? Do I have to be a facebooker to be a member? I have a long standing dis-trust of FB in general.
You captured the quote wonderfully! If I had researched this quote further and read the names of Mussolini and Trump I probably found you something else to do. That said, I like the idea of being brave if only for a day.......it’s better than always cowering and following the herd.
@joysabin thanks! And I hear ya about FB... it totally creeps me out... 52frames has a website and you can participate from there... it’s 52frames.com ... folks also post to Instagram which is how I heard about it... the website is pretty robust but does not do discussion threads... I guess that all happens on FB but I wouldn’t know as I don’t play there...
@northy Thank you so much. Me, myself and I are in 'discussions' about this. I do like to continue to 'grow' with my art and this might be a good spot.
Reminds me of the book I read about the Apollo astronauts and what they did next. How do ever top walking on the moon and how do you come to terms with that?
Cool shot. I like your interpretation.
@joysabin the site is well-set-up to hold you accountable... and there's quite a bit of good info to go along with the challenges... i find it better than the capture 52 thing for that reason...

What you are doing, I guess, depends on your view of the afterlife.
Cool shot. I like your interpretation.
