Cute Idea. I’m interested in the red at the bottom of the bulbs. I’ve never seen amaryllis bulbs that are that colour. Is this something applied on top of the bulbs?
@gardencat Thanks Joanne. You are correct there is 'something' on the bulbs. It's like a wax/plastic coating they were dipped in. I'd say it purely ornamental. :)
@novab Thanks for the info. It looks a bit like the red wax coating you see on the balls of Gouda cheese. I wonder if, as well as looking festive, it may help keep the bulbs from drying out .
