Midnight Bell by olivetreeann

Midnight Bell

This crazy looking contraption is actually an old door bell of sorts. It originally hung outside the kitchen door at my grandmother and grandfather's house in Brielle, NJ. When the house was sold, I "adopted" it and brought it to my home. If you pull on it, and then let go, it has a really nice "ring". I couldn't get to sleep last night due to another major thunder and lightning storm crashing overhead, so I switched on the back porch light to see how hard the wind was shaking the trees and the bell caught my eye. Well, if you can't sleep, why not make use of the time and take pictures for 365?
What a fascinating bell! Hope you can get caught up on your rest today!

That’s a cool bell, and I love that you took the picture through the screen. I also like that the bell has a family history. It’s great to have treasures to stay connected to our past.

I love old things like that and especially when there is a connection to family,.

Thank you Lisabell and Rick. I've seen that connection in your photos too. My house is full of family treasures in things like that. They bring me a lot of joy. I'll never make an issue of House Beautiful- but it's all beautiful to me! I took it through the screen because I didn't want to go out in the rain!

It almost looks like a painting in light as some clever 365-ers have created. I love that you brought this momento home to live with you. A great way to keep family memories vibrant.

Thanks Allison- my extended family knows that I am a "keeper of the family" flame so to speak. These little things have always been special to me- just part of who I am. (o:

@ruthyadams (o: I wouldn't know where to get one since it is very old, but if you know an artist who welds sculptures and such I'm sure they could copy it. I'd be glad to take a picture of it in daylight so you can see how it's constructed. Thanks for the comment- it made me smile.
