Independence Day

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness...

We are a toddler among the nations of the world and many would say we have strayed from our "first love", that is those principles that drove our forefathers to stand up for their freedoms. However this day is a perfect time to pause and remember how we came to be and those who are hoping and working towards a similar freedom in their own homelands.

@mrssmith Oh- I forgot to say, I took this back around Memorial Day as I headed out of town to visit my son. I knew I was going to save it for the fourth. I'm rather pleased with it since I took it "on the run" as I drove past the construction site.
