Thanks to the heat and humidity, I've preferred to stay cloistered in my one air conditioned room these past few days. But I've had a bumper crop of photos to choose from due to our visit to Batavia NY last week. As we headed out of town the other day, we stopped at a place called "The Barn" to catch a quick lunch. There were all kinds of antiques, collectables and flowers to capture. I was in photo-opp heaven! This old fellow naturally caught my eye and I find myself in a rather nostalgic melancholy today, so he seemed the appropriate choice for today's photo. This is also my first attempt at including some text. I'm rather pleased with the result.
@jmj@roejan@digitalrn Thanks Jennifer- it's actually two frames put together- first the mirror frame with some of the shine taken off and brown tones added in; then the museum matte with the outer frame kept in black and the inner frame changed to a dark brown. Thanks Roe Jan and Rick. I have been looking for something to shoot in sepia- this was the perfect subject.
I used to drive through Batavia to get to my Grandparent's house in Lockport! I always wanted to go see the horses race there. That was also the only town where the Dunkin Donuts carried peanut butter and jelly donuts! Great shot!
Cool! I'd love to browse around at a place like that! It's sounds so interesting. I like the effects with this picture...and of course the quote fits it (and me) perfectly! :)
@mrssmith I fell in love with that quote because it fits me perfectly too! It really was such a great place- full of local flavor (and locals!), lots of doodads and collectables as decoration and a really friendly waitress who made awesome milkshakes!
