Thumbnail Challenge- Shapes 3 by olivetreeann

Thumbnail Challenge- Shapes 3

A while back the deer had eaten the heads off of some Queen Anne's Lace growing in my "wildflower" garden. I was a bit upset, but eventually the plants sent up new shoots and now they're in bloom. I'm continuing the floral shapes in my thumbnails this week with this lovely bloom and its little visitor.
I love the pattern of this plant, I'm glad it has grown back again.

@louisefrance Thanks Louise- most wildflowers are very resilient which is a bonus for those who are willing to wait!
@filsie65 Thanks Phil! It really does have the look of lace.

Beautiful! I thought it was a snowflake on the thumbnail. Love it. i have had the same problem in my garden with "help" from either rabbits or my naughty husband with the weed whacker.

July 25th, 2012
this is so beautiful Ann! The top view makes it very attractive and reminds me of some explosion
July 25th, 2012
Love the flower - it's beautiful and looks so delicate in b&w! Not so much the visitor... I think I would've flicked him somewhere else :)

@juliedance Thank you Julie! lol I had a naughty husband hit a few of my wildflowers with the round-up by "accident"!
@cimes1 Thanks Carole!
@automaticslim Thank you, thank you Andy!!
@salza Thanks Sally! The shape of the week dictated the overhead pov- but I think it really highlights the delicate little flowers this way.
@ruthmouch Thank you Ruth!
@potsbypam Thanks Pam!
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie! Yes, the ant is the little visitor. He didn't stay long though! The flower was not small- but not as big as they grow either.
@woot Thanks Davide! I think more along the lines of Julie- a snowflake. But yes, I can see an explosion like a firework too.
@pjonas Thanks Patty! lol the visitor really didn't stay there long. He was quite busy exploring the whole garden!
@bruni Thanks Bruni!
@karenann Thanks Karenann! I really appreciate your kind words- especially since you take such lovely flower shots!

Very pretty
July 26th, 2012
@ellimae Thanks Ellen- it wasn't that big- just the average size. The flower head was not as large as some of them grow. Maybe that threw you off.
@kimmistephens Thanks Kimmi!

@la_photographic Thanks Laura!

We're having the same problem with deer. Didn't bother with any annuals except one pot on deck and thought my herbs were safe. Just noticed they have an appetite for parsley, probably to get my hosta off their breath! Nice comp on this. I've got to get down to the end of the street and shoot ours soon!
July 28th, 2012
@lesphoto Thanks Leslie! If I didn't spray my plants, I'd have none. I've found that this is one of the best products out there and it's safe for the environment and people: "Deer Out" www.deerout.com
