As I was driving home from food shopping the other day, the moon was lazily hovering in the sky. My camera seems to be able to handle daytime moon shots, but not night time ones, so when I was stopped at a red light, I pulled out my camera and took a quick shot. I decided to save the moon for Piggy. After all she's been such a good sport all week, allowing me to run her through some pretty funky processing hoops. Yesterday I gave her the stars and now the moon. She's one happy little Pig!
The shot & processing are beautiful! She is a good little subject. I have one (piggy) I might have to photography sometime. Inspired my you. Its a toy my daughters played with and now my grand baby. :-)
@bkbinthecity Thank you Brian! @vposey Thank you Vickie- I'll look forward to seeing that! @dakotaburns Thanks Donald! Surprisingly this is the direction I was sort of going in yesterday when I ended up with something that did not look like it at all! @slash Thanks Susan!
@demmie Thanks Demmie! I'm quite partial to blue myself! @jesperani Thanks Jennifer! I've gotten a lot better at it since I've given myself this challenge in January! @kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @chrismarfil Thank you Chris!
@pandorasecho Thanks Dixie! I really wanted to bring out the blue in this one. @digitalrn Thanks Rick- lol all she needs is a couple of palm trees! @daisy Thanks Kathryn- only in the world of processing- the rest of the time she just sits on a shelf.
Thank you to all! Had a smile as I was reading all your nice compliments. One more for the series and then it will be time to post another shot- last one for the month. I can't believe how quickly it went!
you know your camera has a manual mode. set the ISO on the lower setting and you can shoot the moon at night, you can zoom in as much as you can, hold the shutter halfway, until the image settles from just one bright ball to what you actually see with your eyes, then press all the way.
@summerfield I have tried that- I have also tried the preset "night shot" mode. I have also tried the lowest ISO with a "make-shift" tripod and the timed shutter. It just doesn't like shooting the moon at night. It is just about the bottom of the barrel of Canon's powershot series and I think that's why.
Very cool shot of the moon and the effect you did putting it in the mirror! Well done, Ann! (trick for night moon shots with P&S camera: use your flash)
@prttblues Thanks Bev- I can try that, but honestly, the camera doesn't have the power. I've had a little better luck with the Nikon- maybe I'll try the flash with that- but all in all those little lenses are just not made for the kind of shot I want to get. But if I get the camera of my dreams, I'll get the moon shot I want too.
