Chocolate Galaxy by olivetreeann

Chocolate Galaxy

Today's technicolor April word is chocolate. Oh, now that's a hard one to shoot!
Lovely sparkles hidden in the powder

@fullcircle Thanks Cindy! I think it's sugar.
April 15th, 2013
A great idea! fantastic shot.
April 15th, 2013
Lovely pattern, nice high key effect!
April 15th, 2013
There is such a shade of brown called chocolate and can't be missed!
April 15th, 2013
Mmmmmm....chocolate! Is this the top of a coffee drink by any chance?
April 15th, 2013
Did you lick your finger after?! Great shot
April 15th, 2013
Yum!!
April 15th, 2013
Hard to shoot but fun to enjoy. Good interpretation.
April 15th, 2013
This looks delicious!! Great shot!
April 15th, 2013
Yum, I'd live there!
April 15th, 2013
Wonderful shot
April 15th, 2013
Great shot, a waste of chocolate though Ann :) Very creative.
April 15th, 2013
So creative!
April 15th, 2013
Clever shot!
April 16th, 2013
Love the way you arranged this. Truly original.
April 16th, 2013
Creative and yummy. Love the sparkles.

@ididntdoit87 Thanks Hillary!
@salza Thanks Sally! Only slightly overexposed- it was taken in very bright afternoon light on a white plate.
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie- well according to our technicolor word list chocolate is a color. (o:

@dakotaburns Thanks Donald! No beverages involved in this shot. It's a hot chocolate mix (from France of all places- a souvenir from a friend who went there) on top of a white plate. I poured it in a pile and then twirled my finger through it in a circular fashion.

@filsie65 Thanks Phil! When chocolate is involved? Do we even have to ask that question?
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri!
@henrir Thanks Henri!
@pflaume Thanks Lisa!
@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! It'd be a dangerous place to live I suppose, what with the inhabitants adding a little to their hot milk each day. Talk about erosion!
@cocolil Thanks Tracy!
@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole- not a waste at all. Once photographed, a cup of hot chocolate was fully enjoyed! We NEVER waste chocolate in this house!
@eudora Thanks Diane!
@daisy Thank you Kathryn!
@allie912 Thank you Allison!
April 16th, 2013
Oh love this, really cool shot!
April 16th, 2013
@nadaa Thank you Nada!
@cnlane Thank you Nelly!
April 16th, 2013
You did well for a hard one to shoot! I love the contrasting colours and composition. Very creative idea.
April 16th, 2013
Ooooh yum !
April 16th, 2013
Yummy....if only I could smell your picture!
April 16th, 2013
@edie Thanks Edie! I was being a little tongue in cheek there- it's not hard to shoot chocolate especially when you can eat it after the shot is done!
@worthitall Thanks Rashella!
@mrssmith203 Thanks Carla! If you could smell my picture we'd be sitting down for a cup of hot chocolate together! Now that would be nice!
April 16th, 2013
A sweet idea
April 16th, 2013
Meg
you did a great job...I have to disagree with you though...chocolate anything, and photo is great to look at! :)
April 16th, 2013
What a creative idea, love it. Gorgeous lighting too.
April 16th, 2013
@digitalrn Thank you Rick!
@megmills Thank you Meg! I was being a bit tongue in cheek there- it's not hard to photograph chocolate at all especially when you can eat it afterwards!
@masosy Thank you Kate! It's all natural light, bumped up just a notch on the ISO dial. To add to the brightness, the chocolate is set on a white plate.
April 16th, 2013
I often forget about the ISO, thanks for the reminder :)
April 16th, 2013
Perfectly done Ann, love how you played with the coco powder? Really liking the high key on this as well =)
April 16th, 2013
Yummy! I like the pattern and slight sparkle too :)
April 16th, 2013
Very creative. Love it.
April 16th, 2013
Ha. A chocoholics universe
April 16th, 2013
@masosy Oh Kate, I just realized I told you the wrong thing- it's the exposure compensation that was bumped up a notch but I think you could accomplish the same goal with the ISO too- whatever causes the camera to over-expose the shot will make it high key-I think. I'm not totally technique savvy with my memory on these effects. Once I learn what works with my p & s I repeat it when I want the same effect. I hope that helps!

@tanja_1211 Thanks Tanja! Yes, it's a hot chocolate mix.
@alia_801 Thanks Alia! I think the sparkles are sugar.
@sangwann Thanks Dione!
@peterdegraaff hahaha- absolutely Peter!
April 16th, 2013
Bev
Nice shot! Love how you made the chocolate powder into a spiral. It gives depth and texture to it! Great job! :)
April 16th, 2013
@prttblues Thanks Bev! And when appropriate, it is fun to play with your food! hehe
April 16th, 2013
Clever girl!!! Well done!
April 16th, 2013
Love this shot, a chocolate labyrinth!
April 16th, 2013
@ruthmouch Thank you Ruth!
@mhatch Thank you Mark! Haha- if you got lost in this one, you could just eat your way out!
April 17th, 2013
Ooh fab!!!!!! Cool idea for the set up!
April 17th, 2013
chocolate is just hard to shoot, especially when you like it a lot. fortunately there was none on this day (because i ate them all day before) so i had to make do with chocolate drink, and that was before i had a spoonful of the powder. :-)
April 17th, 2013
@jesperani Thank you Jennifer!
@summerfield Thank you Vikki! I didn't eat the powder- a little too much sugar in this one!
April 17th, 2013
Very creative shot
April 18th, 2013
