Photography Book Club 7

We seemed to be having some connection problems with the internet service last night, so I'm posting this a bit late! Seems when our main computer is updating programs, my laptop does not like going on line. I don't know- I think computers were invented to drive me crazy!

I'm excited to know my Freeman book is on the way and that I'll actually be able to read it word for word and not concoct my own exercises from the synopsis. I have read a couple others commentaries though about one of Freeman's exercises where you sit in the bathroom and observe for 15-20 minutes and then take a few selective shots from what you've observed. So I did a shorter version of that last night after we came home from picking up my car!!

One thing I keyed in on was the different things I use when in the bathroom- the toothpaste, towels, hair dryer, the lights and other assorted things. I finally landed on my brush and comb and started to take shots not of them but through them. I also decided to continue my 50/50 rule of thirds breaking composition. And here's the final (and my favorite) outcome of that photo shoot.
cool shot

fun - I imagine some of the bent tines as dancers' legs.

This came out really cool. Great idea! I need to get busy and get my assignment done. I love the idea of the book club, and the book chosen is a good one!

Very cool, and I love the use of color and light here too.

You made me want to order this book too. Every “ordinary” object has its beauty but to bring it out .... that is so challenge. You have done it well.

Cool shot with an interesting sense of movement.

Well done -- makes a great abstract with the lines and color.

@twr Thank you Timothy!
@vankrey Thank you Michael! I like that idea!
@lisabell Thank you Lisa! I just got notice my book is on its way and I can't wait to get it!
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
@archaeofrog Thanks Katie! I was tempted to convert it to b/w to keep the thumbnails looking more uniform, but the other photography book I've been browsing brings out color quite a bit, so I decided to keep it. I think I like it better this way anyway.
@yaorenliu Thank you Yao. I have not had the pleasure to read the book yet, but I've seen what others are saying and doing, so I've been keying ideas off of what they say. I am looking forward to actually having the book myself.
@dakotaburns Thank you Donald! That may be due in part to the fact the orange and blue are opposite one another on the color wheel.
@taffy Thank you Taffy!
@eniaral Thank you Laraine!

Nice shot, Ann. The object blends well with the background. Makes for a great abstract. Good job :)

Love the hint of a reflection. I really am enjoying catching up with your project and reading about your study of this book.

@nadaa Thank you Nada! I am deeply touched that you are catching up on so many of these shots! I've enjoyed the book. It has made me stretch my thought process about taking a picture and why I take it to the point where I was so dissatisfied just shooting off a couple quick shots to post today!
