Black and White Book Club 12

I helped out a friend today whose car is in the shop and brought her out to do her food shopping while I did mine. Ooooooh! A whole new supermarket to take surreptitious photos!

I'm continuing to explore texture in black and white and the lovely GREEN (I remember that color...sigh...) cabbages, freshly misted, really caught my eye as a potential black and white shot.

Fiddled back and forth with this quite a bit after converting the color to monotone. I finally settled on not using the contrast after conversion but tweaking the highlights and shadows in order to bring out the contrast. I also used a blue filter in the initial conversion.

Great BW shot. The lines and the textures of the cabbages came out well in black and white.

@espyetta Thanks Marybeth! It was tough to convert it to black and white because the green was such a nice thing to see after all the bleak and dreary gray and white days we've been having!

Beautiful! I can imagine it would have been tough converting to B&W after viewing this in color. . . but seeing it with my fresh eyes, the absence of color allows the texture to truly sing!
