Took a few moments tonight to photograph the moon. The shadows you see are from trees in our neighborhood. I added some cross-processing magic in there with fluorescent lighting to give it a little extra intrigue.
We'll be entertaining Leigh for the next few days, so I'll do my best to view and comment on your pictures when I can.
@nicolecampbell Thank you Nicole! @skstein Thank you Sandy! This camera has a great zoom for a "point and shoot". Right now it's better than the capabilities of the two lenses I have for the T3i. The range goes up to 1200 but it can be magnified 200x. I'm not sure of what those numbers actually mean technically but it does take great moon shots!! @aikimomm Thank you Phoebe! @dibzgreasley Thanks Debs! Good suggestion- I added it. @salza Thank you Sally! I did add the tag. @janetb Thank you Janet!
@flashter78 Thanks for the fav Loraine! @thresheg Thank you Graham and thanks for the fav! @janiskay Thank you Janice! @bruni Thank you Bruni! @cjphoto Thank you Chris! @lbingle365 Thank you Lisa! I may or may not have shared this info with you, so if I have, my apologies for repeating myself. I use a tripod so as to minimize camera movement, set the light source for daylight (as the moon reflects the sun), ISO at 200 on the AV setting. You can go to a + or - on the exposure - being better at bringing out the contrast and shadows. Some people set the timer on the camera to further reduce their effect on the camera's stability. Go for it!!
@sdutoit Thank you Sylvia! I used a Canon Powershot XS50 HS. It has a fixed lens, I'm not sure what the specifics of it are except that the zoom is 50x and it was probably close to fully extended for this shot. I have a T3i as well, but I don't have a zoom for it, so the Powershot serves me well! I know the zoom helps but I think the key is to set the WB on daylight, and ISO on 200 in AV. That gives you the texture in the moon's surface. @cortens Thank you Julie!
