@dibzgreasley (Debs) @alia_801 (Alia) and I are embarking on a month of circle shots. Each of us will add our own little interpretations of the theme, but all of our shots will involve a circle in one way or another. Found my first circle in the kitchen today when I was making lunch.
Feel free to join us if you'd like. Tag your photos circles2015
There are so many when you start looking for them. So glad to have you along with me on this theme, it will be such fun to see what we come up with. You were right about Alta, she did such interesting themes last year.
Great contrasting colours in this.
Not sure why you posted all you did on my site regarding my photo of the dogs at the dog park...... It's one photo I took, not 15, and I don't take a tripod to the park. I also don't post process.
@aglennc Oh- sorry about that. I knew your shot was a single shot, I just thought from your comment you wanted to know how to do a multiplicity shot- you can delete all that info if you want to.
Thank you Taffy, Colleen, Debs, Alia, Dione, Margo, Joyce, Nada, Katy, Marilyn, Janice, Nicole, Pyrrhula, Jen, Brian, Rick, and Chris! Isn't it fun how something as simple as a little tomato on your kitchen counter can turn into something so pleasant to look at?
I love the light on the tomato and the tomato on the background color...wonderful circle shot...your month of circles theme sounds like fun!
Would you mind explaining how you create that interior frame (the black line around the image set in from the edge)? I use PicMonkey, and I can see how to add a line around the edge; but I can't see how to move it inward. I would appreciate any help you can provide!
@janetb Thank you Janet! Sometimes the simplest of shots are the best. As for the frame, it is an application in my photo processing program. I am not certain how you would go about doing it yourself. I use a program called "Smart Photo Editor" and this particular frame is called "Exposure Vignette Plus". When first applied the edges are light/white and the black line is set where you see it here. I usually adjust the exposure lower so that more of the picture shows through and there is no white. If you're interested, the program is VERY affordable and has soooo many applications- you'll never use them all! smartphotoeditor.com
And feel free to join us with a few circles of your own!
@olivetreeann Ann, I surely wish I were more "talented" or "in the know" about photo shop, putting several photos together, etc. I've got photo shop on my computer too..... totally baffling to me. My daughter (who was on 365 for three years) knows it well. When she comes down for Christmas I may try to snare her away for enough time to explain it to me.......
@aglennc I truly understand! I don't have PS, but a much simpler and user-friendly program. And I am a dabbler- I just mess around until I find something I like. After I've done it a couple times, I can remember. But technically speaking, I don't really know what I'm doing!!
@janetb I hope you enjoy it Janet- I know I do! You will find this frame in the "Simple Borders" collection under "Borders". When it comes up the edges will be white like a vignette but you can move the "exposure" slider to make the white area brighter or to lessen it so that more of the picture shows through (which is what I usually do). Enjoy!!
@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! The lighting in my kitchen can be a blessing or a curse depending on what I'm photographing!
@olivetreeann Found it! Thank you! I've been trying for weeks to create the inset black frame, and I couldn't figure it out. I should have asked you sooner. I so appreciate you helping me!
@aglennc You have a couple options Anita- first, as an ace member you can process your photos in Picmonkey after you upload them here. In the right-hand box with all the statistics there an option to "edit"- just click on the word Picmonkey. You can then do a number of things ranging from sharpening your shot to adding a few special effects. I think there are tabs that run alongside the picture and you can experiment with them. Another program much like Picmonkey is iPiccy (iPiccy.com) which is on-line and free. It's very similar in set-up to Picmonkey. The program I use is called Smart Photo Editor. It comes with its own tutorials to get you acclimated with what it can do. It walks you through them step by step. It can be purchased on-line at smartphotoeditor.com and is very affordable. There are so many effects you can play around with this one that you'll never get to them all! When I started out (with Ribbet which was the forerunner of Picmonkey) all I did was use the sharpening tool and bring out the color using the vibrance and contrast settings. And after that I just started experimenting. The nice thing about digital processing is that nothing is ever permanent until you hit save. So if I did something I didn't like, I just "undid" it and tried again. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask- if I don't know the answer, I can try to find out. And I am always willing to tell you what I did on a shot (if I can remember!! hehe). I'd suggest starting with Picmonkey or iPiccy and then if you like playing with it, add on Smart Photo Editor.
Thanks for all the help and advice Ann. I'm going to try looking into Picmonkey for starters. Really want to be able to do more on this site than I am currently capable of. Would like to know how to put "two photos into one", for starters.
@skstein Thank you Sandy! I really like SPE- it's easy to use and play with but they also have some tutorials to help you with the basics. There is also a community forum for questions and interaction, although I haven't used that yet.
@aglennc You're welcome Anita! You'll have fun with Picmonkey. I think you can "merge" photos on there- but the program I use for that is iPiccy. And I'm not sure if you can merge two photos when you can only upload one at a time from 365. So, what I will do, is try to put together two shots in the next day or so and then write down the process in the commentary for you. Then you can try it out on iPiccy.
Today Daisy and I browsed pictures here for awhile. Yours delighted her, everything round delights her, she gets circle and ball and all round things are one or the other. Our apple tree is full of edible balls. Coins and CDs are circles. So are pizzas, unless I make them, then they are not anywhere near round.
