The Old Mill by ollyfran

The Old Mill

After a lovely walk we stopped off for some liquid refreshment before heading home. After endless grey and wet days it was so nice to see a bright blue sky and have a crisp dry day
Nice shot of this super building..

I wonder if the Old Mill was once an old mill. A lovely old building with obviously real (rather than fake) lead light windows.

@dkbarnett it was indeed and has some unusual history.
The Old Mill was as the name suggests, a converted watermill, situated by the River Sowe. When the building was a working water mill, a woman, said to have been trapped and drowned under the wheel, now haunts here. A mummified cat was found during excavations and having been taken from the hotel a number of times ensure bad luck until it is returned. The last attempt to remove it was in 1999.
In the 19th Century, a thousand years of milling came to an end when the mill buildings were converted into a private dwelling, but many of the unique features of that dwelling have been retained, such as the roughly hewn beams in the pub area. Today, the Old Mill Hotel offers 28 exquisite rooms all with en suite facilities of both bath and shower. The rooms are well equipped and as a standard include all the facilities you would expect.
