classy pet

This small turtle, and another, yes that's the reflection but there are two in the tank, are great hits at the school, and after being around them awhile, it is amazing to see how very alert they are and busy, and tuned in to all the people moving anywhere near the aquarium.

“Looking for peace is like looking for a turtle with a mustache: You won't be able to find it. But when your heart is ready, peace will come looking for you.”
Ajahn Chah quotes (Thai famous buddhist, 1918-1992)
I've never had a pet turtle but sounds like they would be interesting to watch! Great quote!

I think that he looks very wise! Love this photo . . I wonder what he is thinking. Beautiful catch. I tried shooting photos into a large aquarium today . . had gorgeous fish in it. I tried so many settings, but none of them turned out. Frustrating.

We have two red-eared sliders we rescued several years ago. Be prepared for a bigger aquarium and LOTS of water changes, they are quite messy little guys, lol (well, ours are the size of dinner plates now. And one just laid an egg the other day. Not viable, but ugh. I need to get her spayed) Have fun watching them grow :)

@clarissajohal @princesicita These are tiny and the aquarium is huge, I think 120 gallon but not filled more than 5 inches deep. The two turtles are each only about the same diameter as a hen's egg now, and they each belong to a child who's parent let them loan it to the class for the year, two different students. They were ordered from some place on-line and the parent's are friends and teamed up to surprise the class.

I used to love those little green turtles you could get at the pet store, but I think they out-lawed them at some point because I haven't seen them in ages. This little guy and his friend are a great addition to your classroom- sounds like everyone loves having them there! Nice shot!

@pandorasecho 120 gallons? Nice!! I'm envious, they'll have plenty of room to grow in there! Ours were the size of half dollars when we got them--and both had pneumonia. Ever tried to give a turtle an injection in the leg? Yep, not an easy task

Love the turtle shot with its reflection - so much color in this photo! A 120 gallon tank is massive - where do you keep it? That would take up an entire counter in my room!

nice one

Love this photo and turtles also. Very cool that you caught this reflection. Looks like it has a great home in there.

cool!

@olivetreeann They were illegal, something about spreading salmonella I think, but now they are not. @sparkleplenty1 It does take up an entire counter, but some rooms here use those tanks to hatch salmon fry for the salmon release program in 4th grade @clarissajohal no but I had to give an amazon parrot injections for a week, and when the macaw needed them, I gave up and boarded her at the vet

Cool! They are so little!

Pretty scene. Must be peaceful to watch them act their busy lives. Very zen.
