Looks like a good combination. That's pretty much how I make stew. What is the ingredient in the top middle.

That's a swede, a root vegetable.

I make mine like that too but Peter, I have never heard of dried peas, mushy yes!

@henrir Thank you Henri for your comment, as Hazel @quietpurplehaze says its what we call a swede I believe you call a Rutabaga in the states:)

@quietpurplehaze Thank you for your comment Hazel, those dried peas are in fact mushy peas as we know it, these are Batchelors quick cook version no need to soak them over night in bicarb water in the traditional way:)

I bet it was delicious. I haven't had mushy peas for years. My Mum used to make them the old fashioned way and they were delicious.
