It's Saturday - it's market day... with a difference.
We travelled to see family today, and enjoyed the Linslade Canal Festival on the Grand Union Canal near Leighton Buzzard. There were quite a few boats moored up selling things from canal pottery and memorabilia, through cards and prints to cheese, ice cream and spirits!
@flowerfairyann Ann, I also have a thing about canals. Have been on more canal holidays than I care to remember. Without detail, what kind of thing did you do at British Waterways?
I was a secretary in the Engineering Dept covering the south west. Such an interesting job and I was lucky enough to go out on site sometimes. Being at the bottom of a lock on the River Severn when the gates were being replaced and walking through the chambers where the water passed through at Diglis, Worcester, were highlights. Oh, and when the Queen re-opened the Caen Hill Flight on the Kennet & Avon. Which canals have you travelled?
@flowerfairyann Shropshire Ring, Cheshire Ring, Llangollen, up to Chester, Trent & Merseyside from Burton north to Caldon Canal, Staffs & Worcs from Stourport north, Oxford Canal, a bit of The Thames, and some of them more than once! I have yet to discover the canals into Bath and Bristol, the system to the east of England, and all the others! I'll post some shots in the Extras album in the near future.
