After a multi-million pound rebuild, this iconic steam locomotive from the 1920s is touring the country, and is seen here on the West Somerset Railway.
This shot taken, processed on and uploaded directly from my phone. Many thanks for all your comments over the past few days.
Oh oh ohhhhhhh - you lucky thing! How fantastic to see it running and on our favourite steam railway line in the country too! Many happy holidays spent at Blue Anchor and messing about on this railway. We used to check on Scotsman every time in the workshop at the York Railway Museum. So exciting that she is out and about on the tracks again.
@casablanca She's a beauty. We went up to Minehead behind a "nirmal" steam locomotive, then returned to Bishop's Lydeard behind the Flying Scotsman. A real experience. 😀
@peadar What a fantastic treat! My friend is one of the signalmen on the line there now he is retired and his wife does the flowers at Crowcombe Heathfield station. Now there's a retirement choice for fun! Smiling big smiles at your experience there. Just lovely.
PS I just saw some video my friend took of this exact journey today. She followed the train on motorbike and filmed it in various sites en route - just fab and I thought of you!
How wonderful to see the Scotsman for real, and with a good sky as backdrop too! Nothing wrong with a phone photo and upload, I wouldn't be able to keep up the regime of a daily photo sometimes without this option!
@jackie8 Thanks, Jackie. I was surprised by the editing options available on my phone just through the standard Android Photo app. Still haven't got used to it, which is why this shot looks very saturated to me now!
cell phones are so good now, have such wide angles and large apertures, plus great apps that sometimes I wonder if there is still a reason to take around the heavy DSRL :-)
