An enjoyable visit to this venerable concert hall for tonight's BBC Prom: Rachmaninov, Shostakovitch and a new work by Outi Tarkiainen. The BBC Philharmonic played their socks off and were rewarded with a standing ovation.
Many thanks for all your recent comments, all are very much appreciated.
It is a very impressive building isn't it. My uncle used to be a musician with the BBC Symphony orchestra and played at the Promenade Concerts years ago.
I always enjoy the Albert Hall, though I am not convinced about the mushrooms above for the sound! Very jealous of your Prom ticket. Never been to one but love them.
Thank you for showing me this. I didn't know what it looks like, just heard that "now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall", since I was young :)
Beautiful building. I listened to radio broadcasts from various festivals every evening. Yesterday was from Schleswig-Holstein, also Shostakovich - Cello Concerto no.1
@haskar I love that Cello Concerto. By the way, the BBC Proms are broadcast live every night on radio, and recorded versions are available via BBC online.
