Queenstown Road by peadar

Queenstown Road

Another for my Get Pushed challenge (architecture).

This is Queenstown Road station, on the London and South Western Railway line leading into London Waterloo. This building dates from 1877 (when the station was called Queen's Road) and you can see the platforms actually extend across the road bridge. The station is close to Battersea Park, and must have competed for traffic with the nearby "Battersea Park" station, operated by the competing London Brighton and South Coast Railway (going into London Victoria).
Angie @angiedanielle24 - another one for the challenge.

Know it well. Seems as if nothing much has been done to it since I lived there 12 years ago!!

@sarahlth Probably not, but the surrounding area is the new Docklands, I think!

How marvellous that this has survived. Brought back memories for me of Deansgate station in Manchester.

Intriguing shot with the lights in the tunnel, makes me wonder what is inside

@nicolecampbell Nicole, I'll leave you in wonder (the truth may be disappointing!).

Not sure about the colours on this one?

@angiedanielle24 Angie, that's a personal choice. I wanted to reflect the fact that it's an old building; older photographs of similar scenes from around here are very desaturated. Thanks for the challenge, I've enjoyed it so far. I may get the chance to take some more before the week is out!
