The Swimming Hole by peggysirk

The Swimming Hole

We just got back from a get away to the North Carolina mountains. This popular swimming spot on the Cane River was just down the way from the cabin we rented. These kids were having a great time with the rope swing on a sweltering hot day. :)
Looking forward to catching up with everyone after a bit of an absence!
Great photo Peggy Gerry.

What a great shot, Peggy; it looks so cool and refreshing. (Even though I'm shivering away here in my early morning dressing gown after a freezing winter's night!)

Beautiful little glade & that shady sun looks glorious Peggy. Sounds an idyllic break in those mountains but glad you are back!

Love it! I assume that the gators decided to leave those adorable kids alone for the day? :)

@judithg and @happypat ~ I've been watching Wimbledon for the past week and a half and have seen that your part of the planet has been having more than it's share of cool, wet weather. We've had record heat over here, 103 - 106 degrees (39-41C). Ugh. Somewhere in the middle of what you have and what we have lies perfect summer weather. :)

@girlie I'm almost jealous of your winter weather, Robin. We hit an all time record high last weekend of 106 degrees (41C). Even in the mountains it was only a few degrees cooler. It's hot, hot, hot here!

@bpaquette It was a wonderful getaway, Barbara. A great escape from the flatland heat...although it was toasty in the mountains as well, but still a nice 10 degrees cooler. Hope you are enjoying a fabulous summer!

@petersonsheri :) The only thing swimming with the kids in that cold NC high mountain stream were rainbow trout...which remained elusive to the fly fishermen in our party. If this stream were in the SC low country (a couple of hundred miles away) there's a definite possibility that creepy critters could be lurking in the water. We did a three day kayaking trip down the Edisto River several years ago (in the heart of the SC low country) and there were some unfriendly things swimming in that water...and hanging from the trees, lying on logs, sunning on rocks...yikes! :)

What a great place, we could have fun there! Hope all is great for you Peggy

@jenrobcarr ~ It's a really great place, Jennifer. Although it doesn't look like it in the photo, the water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming and tubing. A perfect spot for cooling off on a hot summer day!
Life is good good here....hope everything is well for you!!
