for the Perseid meteor shower, but actually it was much too cloudy early this morning. I was able to capture a quick moon shot between cloud cover, but no shooting stars.

You are up early & I am surprised how dark it is Peggy at the time you took your shot. It's very light in the UK at that time of the morning even though the days are getting shorter. Lovely curve of moon.
@happypat It looks much darker in this shot than it really was, Pat. This look into space makes it look pitch dark when actually dawn was on the horizon.
@peggysirk Ah that makes sense Peggy , I can't take moon shots with my camera so not familiar with the mechanics of this type of shot. I notice you are another Nikon fan !!! Just doing research at the moment before I buy a new camera!!!
@happypat I love my Nikon, Pat! I also love my Panasonic Lumix p&s. Good luck with your camera research. A new camera is a big decision. There are so many excellent cameras available ~ I think it comes down to what feels right in your hands. :)
