The milkman makes his deliveries in the neighborhood on Tuesdays. I thought the milk truck and some of the milk boxes on porches would make an interesting collage since home delivery is rather rare these days. But the collage is a bit of a mess. I hoped to get a better photo of something this afternoon to post...but I took my elderly neighbor to her doctor's appointment and that ended up taking a couple hours longer than anticipated. So, I'm stuck with the milk collage. :)
Hope everyone has had a wonderful day!
I love the background to this interesting collage. Like @sarasdadandmom I didn't think milk deliveries still happened anywhere! And, like @jenrobcarr I well remember the horse and cart delivering the milk when I was young.
I love the name of the milk cart!!!! Only deliveries on a Tuesday though...what happens the rest of the week? In Britain we still have doorstep delivery every day if you want it. unfortunately a dying trend as you can purchase it so easily in the supermarket. My daughter gets hers delivered every morning in glass bottles, can't quite make out whether yours are in plastic cartons? . Love those houses Peggy!
You were doing a good deed!! I didn't realise you lot still had milk deliveries. I had mine delivered for ages but because it's not so common these days they were storing the milk in the depot for too long and sometimes it was 'on the turn' by the time they dropped it off! Actually once or twice a week would be great it they guaranteed it was fresh do you think @happypat?
@happypat@judithg Yes, it one day only delivery, Pat. The milk comes in 1/2 gallon or 1 quart cartons (don't know how that converts to UK measure). Although they do offer non-homogenized milk in glass containers with the cream rising to the top. If one runs out of milk, butter, eggs, etc during the week it means a trip to the grocery store or corner market. It's a local dairy that offers this service, Judith. As far as I know it's super fresh. If I still had kids at home I'd sign up for home delivery. But Tom and I don't drink/use enough milk to make it worthwhile.
