"Happy Christmas"

So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear ones
The old and the young

A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Christmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear ~ John Lennon

I was trying to combine a candle in memory of twenty six beautiful lives lost in Newtown, CT along with a final Beatles tune tribute. John Lennon's simple, but poignant, words seemed to fit.

Three good things:
1. Tom and I were talking about our grandfathers this morning. I told him how I remember my grandfather always having a roll of Butter Rum Lifesavers in his pocket to share when I was around. A little while after that conversation, when we were out doing some shopping, out of the blue an elderly gentleman walked up to me, extended his hand and said, "Here you go little lady"...and put a Werther's butterscotch candy in my hand. It absolutely stunned me. I smiled at him and told him he had just made my day. Some things just can't be explained... :)
2. Tom and I watched the Rolling Stones final concert of their "50 and Counting" tour on PPV last night. Happy to see that Mick Jagger still has the moves. I saw the Stones in concert at LSU back in the late 70's...tickets were $8.50US. :)
3. Best good thing for last ~ Grandbaby #2 is a precious little boy! I am sometimes just overwhelmed by the grace in my life.
Oh Peggy - this shot is beautiful. And the lyrics are perfect. I wonder do they even make butter rum lifesavers anymore?!?!

1. Your photos and lyrics are making me well up - again - it's been one of those weekends.
2. LOVE your butterscotch story- amazing (I'm talking about the 'little lady' part ;0) )
3. I knew you were going to say it's a boy - no idea why - but how lovely. Little boys are harder work in some ways - it's why we have to love them so hard!!

@judithg This song tugs at my heart on a good day...with the recent horrific event in CT, I get totally emotional.
