Frozen

We didn't get fun winter weather in the form of snow...we have sleet and freezing rain with ice starting to accumulate on roads, trees and power lines. I'm anticipating a power outage at some point...that seems to be a given in our neighborhood of old trees when the weather turns ugly. This is a photo of ice forming on one of my camellias. I'm sure this poor shrub is totally confused. It was basking in 72 (22C) degree sunshine a week ago.

Three good things:
1. Pot roast in the oven
2. An exciting Andy Murray semi-final win in the Australian Open
3. The temps are supposed to warm up considerably tomorrow and we should be ice free by noon :)
We haven't had much snow either, although relieved about that I would have liked to have had a go at snow pictures. I am always amazed that Camelias start flowering in all the cold weather this one too no doubt & such lovely large blooms.
Even more exciting on Sunday Peggy!!

Amazing how seemingly fragile plants can survive and thrive in these icy conditions; lovely shot of the icicles. We have finally started to rain here but now there are predictions of flooding - from drought to flood in one quick jump! Always the way here... Good news about Murray's win.

Ohhh brrr. Good day for pot roast! Sleet and freezing rain is the worst - stay safe!

Ouch! Poor camellia. Hopefully, you are prepared for the power outage . . . let's see . . . flashlight, fire in the fireplace, water and . . . what else - a glass of wine. Climate change is bringing all of us craziness.

Oh no - aren't camellias tender? Fascinating shot though. Exciting final too - just not quite right result!

It looks beautiful! Poor plant. I'm confused, too. Three days ago it was almost 60 degrees, and today school was delayed due to the subzero windchill. And, yum, potroast is my favorite!!
