I'm getting ready to uninstall Windows 8.1...then reload all my programs to Windows 8. That was the only solution tech help at Microsoft had to offer for their corrupted 8.1 upgrade that has been a constant source of frustration since the first day I downloaded it. Errrrr....
Three Good Things:
1. hmm...
2. Low blood pressure
3. A rainy day with nothing better to do than make vegetable soup while dealing with computer issues/procedures
What a riot! Those images are priceless (Look at Obama...LOL!) . I was kinda going through the same thing yesterday installing a new printer and it got to be a bit overwhelming. I just stuck with Windows 7....it's easy and I'm used to it.
Oh dear Peggy how frustrating for you......it would all be beyond me, hope you have some help there! As long as you don't lose anything important.......new changes aren't always good obviously! I think you might need a G&T at the end!
Oh, look - there's my "it's sleeting and snowing again" face. Love the capture! Sorry to hear about all your computers issues. Technology and I have a real love/hate relationship. Hope you get everything back to normal soon!
Oh yuck - what a mess. I went from Windows XP directly to Windows 8 this past summer, and I thought my head would explode. Best wishes for a smooth transition.
I'm so sorry you are having problems with 8.1. I think I'm the only one I know who isn't having problems and rather likes it. But I do know that just because I like it, that it isn't frustrating to others.
@vegansusan I actually liked 8.1. It was somewhat easier to navigate than 8. But the 8.1 download had too many unfixable issues...browser freezes, dropped Wi-Fi connections, incomplete page downloads, etc. The tech guy at Microsoft said that the newest 8.1 download was 'pretty clean' if I wanted to try it again. Think I'll just stick with 8 until I get a new PC.
happypat No help, other than tech support on the Microcsoft helpline. I'm the IT department at our house...which isn't saying a lot. But at least I'm tenacious. And I'm back in business with a smooth running Windows 8. ☺ And it was definitely a two glass Chardonnay night when the final download was completed!!
@bpaquette My first introduction to Windows 8 was a teeth grinding experience. But I adapted quickly and decided to do the upgrade to 8.1. That's where the problems started. Apparently there were several kinks in the download. I tried for several months to get them worked out but there was no fix for a corrupted download. Finally said 'enough' and went back to 8. PC life is good now. ☺
@linnypinny I can imagine your frustration with the winter weather in TN!!! Hopefully you have seen the last of the snow and ice with your recent blast. Spring is on the way!!!
@cimes1 Hope you got your printer online without too much frustration! And if you're happy with Windows 7, I say stay with it!! My PC was pre-loaded with Win 8 when I bought it. Later I did the upgrade to Windows 8.1...that's where the trouble started. The download had several bugs that created all kinds of issues with operation. I've been trying unsuccessfully to get things straightened out for the past 2 months. Now back to Win 8 with everything up and running. Yeah!!!
@peggysirk Yep, the new wireless printer did install successfully and I am amazed at the new capabilities. Love it. It's just when I approach something new I get a bit anxious ;-)
