Grandfather Mountain Swinging Bridge by peggysirk

Grandfather Mountain Swinging Bridge

...as seen from below at Grandfather Mountain Golf/Country Club.
The Mile High Swinging Bridge is America's highest suspension footbridge. The 228-foot suspension bridge spans an 80-foot chasm at more than one mile (5,946 ft) in elevation. Grandfather Mountain is a nonprofit nature park in Linville, N.C. It serves as a wildlife habitat, and is home to rescued black bears, cougars, river otters, bald eagles and elk. It’s an awesome place.
Three Good Things:
1. Another wonderful day in the mountains
2. Hiking along the beautiful Linville River
3. The delightful guy at Foscoe Fly Fishing Co that tied Tom a fly guaranteed to catch big trout 🤞🏻
And did he??
That looks a scary high suspension bridge....don’t look down. Good you’re having a break & in a beautiful place where the Spring is beautiful.

@happypat He’s going back out after the rain clears to give the new fly a try. I’ll keep you posted. 🤞🏻

Nope, wouldn’t do it. Would you?

@bkp I have, and I suppose I would do it again. Pre-Covid, we hiked up and did the bridge crossing. I figured if Harper and Will could do it, I could do it. 🙂

I would do it so long as Adam wasn’t following me and making it swing! So exciting to see people on their holidays!
