Museum of the New South

A few photos from a visit to the Levine Museum of the New South. The museum explores the history of Charlotte and the NC Piedmont from the Reconstruction Era to present day. It examines tenant farming, cotton mills, and segregation through The New Deal, Child Labor Laws, and the Civil Rights movement. And includes exhibits highlighting progress and growth, and takes an in-depth look at the issues facing Charlotte today.
Three Good Things:
1. Learning from history
2. 200 delicious lunches served at the soup kitchen today
3. Picking up the grandbuddies in the morning for a sleepover
I know our society is not perfect, but we have come a long way, and that looks like a good way to remember that.

@bkp We have come a long way. And it’s encouraging that we’re picking up the pace in working on existing issues and inequities.

You cant beat learning history from places like this. Local history relevant to your town is always going to be the best way to learn. You just have to have time to go & read up underneath the exhibits though.
