Football Practice by phil_howcroft

Football Practice

I've gone a bit barmy and OTT on my B/W post processing.

I don't really know what I did ..made it infra red , bumped up the contrast, darkened the highlights aand adjusted the contrast again.

The footie practice on St. Mary's Recreation Park now looks a little strange, with the green bibs looking like they've been bleached white.

Anyway this is where Ruby enjoys her walk (and where she was bit too !!! :(.......)

This scene won't be viewable in a few weeks as this was shot about 6.30 p,m and the light was disappearing rather quickly

Maybe I should have left it as it was...a gentle low light colour image !!
Awesome black and white

Good choice to go black n white Phil, gives the image a timeless quality and makes the sky look lovely as can be.

As Tashy said...Makes the sky lovely but maybe the players have become a bit stiff and stick figurey.

I think what you have done accentuates the footballers & makes them really stand out like 3D...I like it !!! I am amazed at the amount of solar panels there are on that house !!!

It'll be leaving-work-in-the-dark time before we know it .. *sigh* ..

this does look a little surreal, with the sharp players standing out against the fuzzy grass .. interesting, tho :o)

No I like it - it reminds me (for a reason I'm not sure of!) of an old shot of my grandad amongst a group of kids playing in a Rochdale street in 1903.

nice shot! one of the great things (for me) about b/w photography is that you can bleach green bibs white, for example, and they'll still look natural to those who've never seen the scene in colour.

Love a long range capture of a sporting event. It takes on the abstract feel of a tableau.
