Nat Lofthouse OBE , Bronze Statue

Today, Bolton Wanderers unveiled a bronze statue to their most famous ever football player, Nat Lofthouse OBE.

The statue is outside the Reebok stadium and is an appropriate tribute to one of Bolton's famous sons.

Pity the team didn't live up to the occasion as we lost 1-0 to Queens Park Rangers.

This is shot looking up with a fill in flash. The sky really was bland and boring today, but I think it has helped in the shot.

Everything you wanted to know about Nat.....

Bronze is so dark it is often difficult to photograph. This is excellent!

Fill in flash and a white background are spot on for this! If I ever get back to Preston I'll go & see Tom Finney's!

An excellent sculpture Phil & looking up like that has shown off the figure against that pale sky. Tom Finney outside Preston & Stanley Mathews outside Blackpool...all great footballers of their time.

A fitting tribute - I've just asked hubby who he was! Nice shot with the flash - always difficult when the sun is in the 'wrong' direction. I can actually see the bronze colour on his arm.

@busylady thanks judith...he's a legend in Bolton...my dad told me he was a superb footballer

@happypat thanks Pat, they don't make footballers like Nat, Tom and Stanley any more

@gerry thanks Gerry, I remember your last game of the season against Donny Rovers and the penno fiasco ...unbelievable, you could not write the script

@redpants thanks sue...a loss is a loss :)

@judithg thanks judith, Tom and Nat were good friends .....lots of camaraderie in the 'old days'...Nat said Tom would cross the ball so well all he had to do was stand in the box and put 'em away !
