The Nottingham Carnival is a fabulous event to visit and photograph.
This is Charis, who I met at the Carnival last week.
Charis was helping her friend up the ramp from the cricket pavilion changing rooms, to the road where the carnival was about to start.
Charis's friend needed a helping hand as she was wearing a magnificent costume. The costume had just gained a silver medal in the carnival queen competition.
I asked Charis and her friend ( who I've since found out was Chacelin) if I could photograph Chacelin. I told them I'd took a picture of the costume at Leicester Caribbean Carnival the week before , but I didn't know if it was Chacelin wearing it. Charis said it was Chacelin, but she's had her hair done differently for the Nottingham Carnival.
After I'd photographed Chacelin, I asked Charis if I could photograph her too.
Charis was really easy to photograph, as she had a great smile and seemed at ease in front of the camera.
Chairs was wearing a Spice Queen Productions T-Shirt and told me to search for it online for extra information. Charis had designed Chacelin's award winning costume.
I gave Charis a contact card, shook her hand and wished her a happy carnival.
I am sure you agree Charis is a fabulous stranger.
