Our Bank Holiday was to have been spent at a national Trust property, unfortunately I was poorly through the night so we called it off.
Mid morning I was made aware that Sale Sharks were putting the Premiership Semi Final tickets on ‘general sale’ at 1200. At 1158, I logged on to Sale’s website and waited for 1200 to arrive, it did, all tickets showing as sold. ☹️
Now it ‘s not 100% certain that Leicester Tigers will be Sale’s opponents, mathematically it’s possible, though unlikely, that Tigers may be playing at Saracens and Northampton will play Sale, but for that to happen Harlequins need to beat Tigers by more than 64 points. As I said, unlikely, but mathematically, it’s not impossible.
Premiership Rugby say the away side must be given a percentage of seats; Sale’s ground holds 12,000 (exctly half the capacity of Tigers’ ground), they have 3,000 season ticket holders, who have for the last week, rightly, been able to buy 2 tickets each, so 6,000 tickets available, with only a % to be given to Tigers. It was imperative I got them today, from Sale, or I faced the lottery of getting them off Tigers after next weekend’s match.
Well, I didn’t get one, all sold out at 1200.
Back on the sofa, feeling doubly sorry for myself, my little mind began to wonder “what if?” so at 1258, I logged on again and waited, at 1300, the website changed to a different view and I was able to buy a ticket.
So what happned. Easy, they’d set the tickets and website to go live at 1200 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and not British Summer Time (BST) so an hour later. Schoolboy error.
A very happy Leicester Tigers fan here, hoping Quins don’t smash us by more than 65 points next Saturday.
