Vietnamese Boat People Monument

This sculpture was made by ViVi Vo Hung Kiet. It's called the Vietnamese Boat People Monument. It's base describes it as "...an offering of gratitude to Canada by the Vietnamese Canadian Community..." It is meant to honour the many refugees who fled Vietnam's communicate régime folding the fall of the Republic of Vietnam in the 1970s, and to remember the more than 500,000 people who died trying to escape. The dove landing on the man's hand is giving him a maple leaf.
