We'd just arrived at Bretignolles-sur-Mer for a week's holiday when we heard the news of the attack in America. I was feeling fragile anyway from a too-long journey and my main feeling was one of disbelief. I've sometimes pondered man's inhumanity to man and realise that I'll never understand it.
Remembering all victims everywhere.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Fav! Beautiful shot. I was working in a shearing shed when the news came over the radio - surreal! Man seems one of the lowest life forms on the planet some times. But for each ugly soul there does seem to be a beautiful one down here - if I look hard.
Yes dreadful - I was in the air to Finland. We couldn't understand why the airport was so subdued and people were sitting around watching some sort of horror movie. And then when we drove up to Tampere the people in the hotel were watching the same thing ....and we just could not believe it was real. Nigel had delayed a trip to NY so that we weren't both out of the country for too long at the same time and he was on the phone to NY when it all unfolded - dreadful days.
I can truthfully say it's the only time I've just wanted to get home from France. I don't know what part too much travel and the 9/11 atrocities played for me personally but I was shaky all week and just glad to be back home on a relatively even keel. I agree it still seems unbelievable.
Wonderful . Fav..

What a beautiful tribute, Hazel. It was a day that will not be forgotten and I do wish we as a world could live in harmony but it will unfortunately never happen. I watched it unfold as I had our television on in horror and watched for days the many, many stories and photos being shown by families looking for loved ones and the stories. It was such a horrific attack.
Your tribute is heartfelt, such a beautiful flower as a memorial to all the lives lost on a day that will never be forgotten. That day touched lives world wide, in horror and with a deep sadness.
