A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Ha ha, lovely! We used to put out a little trail of porridge mix and glitter across the garden to show Rudolph the way to our house. Inside we left some single malt whisky in a glass with a mince pie or a gingerbread man and a carrot for Rudolph!
We used to leave Mum's Magnificent Fruit Cake, but never alcohol. Never questioned this as a child, yet as an ado came to understand that my parternal grandfather liked alcohol to excess. Dad and his siblings suffered much in their childhood as a result. My father, an hotelier never drank alcohol in his life, drank water at his/their Wedding...yet generously provided appropriate liquid for our (2 brothers and me) parties etc.
I learnt not too long ago from my Dear Auntie Betty who died last year that my paternal grandfather also liked alcohol to excess. Then he changed and became a devotee of the church.
Why not leave carrots and oaks out Hazel my children used to and their children will do this year I suspect, interesting image Santa must have very long legs don't you think:)
Ho ho ho what a pair of dangly legs -- he's had too many mince pies and tots of something warm me thinks !! After weaving his way through the welsh hills We left him mum's freshly baked mince pies a glass of sherry but sometimes a glass of milk and not forgetting a carrot for Rudolph !!
We left a glass of sherry and a mince pie for Father Christmas and a carrot for the reindeer. There were always crumbs left for me to clear up but 3 little wide eyed faces made up for it! Love his long legs on your photo!
Santa has great legs hope he doesn't hang around too long lots of deliveries to do this year . Mince pie and a glass of sherry for Santa and always excited it the morning to see them gone.
A glass of sherry and a mince pie is correct! But the job can get a bit much for poor old Santa so leaving a noose hanging around is best avoided! BTW Christmas is ages away!
It's becoming obvious that we failed in the supply of carrots!

Trust an engineer to think of the length of Santa's legs hanging down the chimney!
Great funny shot.
No it is not. It's here NOW!!!
