The start of the day for our journey home. We stopped at the Caen locks and walked along the tow-path of the Kennet and Avon Canal to Devizes. The sun was shining and on the way back I saw the flash of an electric blue kingfisher and even his orange breast but he was too far away on the opposite bank and too quick for me to capture him.
Although we are home, I have quite a few shots to post from our break in the coming days.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Marilyn, thanks. It was an early treat for my birthday which is a week before Christmas. We had some lovely times out, excellent meals - and - I got a new camera.............
Yes, thank you Beryl, I'm very OK - had a lovely early birthday break - and a new camera - to replace the new one I bought in August with which I was not too happy!
I've only had 3 sightings of kingfishers so I am not too hopeful of getting a pic of any sort. Well, I did get one once but it was so zoomed (with my little p&s) - and then so cropped, it was a bit indistinct. It was sitting on a post posing for the audience!
@quietpurplehaze Oh !! you won the jackpot then !! Hope you will be pleased with your new camera so many to chose from & so many different features -- it's a mind boggling world of cameras !! What have you got now ?
You're too right, Beryl, about it being mind-boggling with cameras. I've just got a Fujifilm Finepix X20. There were various issues with the Panasonic bridge camera, including being a bit heavy in some situations for my sometimes 'meds-shake' hands. I like the little Lumix but it does not have a viewfinder which I really want in a camera.
If the X20 doesn't 'cut-it' I shall just have to make do!

Definitely different - it's a Fujifilm Finepix X20. Have taken ages to decide so hope it's good!
Linda, thanks - I really should stop posting so many!!!
