the Bishop's quarters seen from the street

A beautiful sunny day and, as the Bishop's Palace and the South Pond are only 4 miles away from us I decided to take Jinks, my camera and myself for a small outing.

Firstly, Jinks hid under the dining table when he saw the lead - so I left him there. He was sitting at the top of the stairs when I returned looking a tad puzzled. (Not used to me calling his bluff.)

Secondly, the goose did not appear and then I saw she had company: four Canada geese who had flown in from somewhere. By now, I was beginning to know my place.

Thirdly hardly any water at all in the moat (for reflections) which is what I hoped to capture so here is a shot 'sans' moat - well, if you look carefully on the right there is a patch of something green and murky

Anyway I found that not only do 365 eyes find shots, they also observe detail more and my second photographic visit to the Palace revealed more of interest in the materials used to construct it.

And then I took myself into Bishops Watham, 5 mins walk away and went to Fred's place (not it's real name but what I like to call it) and had a cream tea which was delicious. I did take a photo but I've deleted it.

Hope you all had a nice day!
What a lovely day for you and you have the capture to prove it! I really enjoyed reading about it!

@linnypinny

Lin, thank you, you are so kind! Only trouble is I shall now have to go 'walkies' again as I feel sorry for Jinks!

Lovely old ruin.

Love all the details in the brickwork. Wonder if Jinks will get the message - Monty wouldn't!

Lovely shot.

It's a pity about the mote being murky, but the shot you got is great. The ivy growing out through the windows looks fantastic, and it's well framed by he trees and greenery.

@judithg

I'm not sure. Normally he's upstairs on the bed in 'Clare's room' when we are out but he was at the top of the stairs looking rather puzzled when I got back - which made me feel a real heel!

With lush scenery, historically interesting buildings & magnificence abound it's a wonder you, little Jinks & Ray are ever at home or out from behind your camera, I wouldn't be. This lavishly interesting shot & blurb are a good example of the merits of being out & about. Love the tree framing on either side.

A great building and such lovely details have been captured

The overgrown feeling of the ruin really appeals to me. I can imagine nature completely taking over eventually.

The flints are great, we have a similar ruin a few miles from here, Bramber Castle.
