1. Ellie got splat on by a seagull.
2. David's iPhone fell out of his shirt pocket on to the pavement smashing the screen. (Hattie exuberant on the lead might have had a little something to do with it.)
3. Ray, Jinks and I went into a tea room and the young eager waiter tipped over a jug of milk (Jinks escaped a milk shower and whilst we were busy with serviettes mopping up was trying to lap up little milk puddles.)
So I felt a cream tea was in order. And when we came to pay we were only charged for one.
We are all now back at Sandy Paws in the cool of early evening and Ellie is going to do scrambled egg and bread and butter (sounds like nursery food) for tea and there's apple pie for 'afters'.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
What a day of trials and tribulations !! but ended well in the end --and with the bargain cream tea -- you came up trumps in the end !!Love the hat --I look terrible in sun hats !!A beautiful selfie and the cream tea looks lush !!
Lovely shot Hazel, and I am not surprised that hints of superstition are creeping into your mind after all those mishaps. I discovered recently that the Timpsons shoe repair place in Tescos do iPhone screen replacements for £40 while you do your shopping.
Mmmm yum! A 'splat' is supposed to be lucky (maybe my mum only said that so we wouldn't cry!) and if the phone can't be fixed, Apple will sell a replacement at a vastly reduced price (though if it's just the screen that's replaceable).
Yikes. I'm not superstitious either but now you have me thinking. I dropped my P&S camera last week and it broke but it wasn't on the Friday the 13th. Does that still count? LOL Lovely picture of you Hazel.
A wonderful portrait & smile Hazel ! Love the hat, the colour is perfect with the fabulous colours & textures behind. A delicious setting in more ways than one !!!
Penelope, thank you. We did bring back our little pots of strawberry jam with some still in them!!
Oh thank you so much for that tip, Jan!
Judith, thanks for the tip re the phone. And I think all sorts of horrid things were explained as 'lucky' - to placate us no doubt!
