Ray alerted me to this day when he read about it in the newspaper this morning:
"World Giraffe Day is a new and exciting initiative of the Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) to celebrate the longest-necked animal on the longest day or night (depending on which hemisphere you live!) of the year - 21 June! "
So here's one I took earlier and which I'm posting in celebration now!
I think he/she looks rather proud?!
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Hurray for World Giraffe Day!! And thank you for sharing the celebration date. It's perfect, being on the longest day of the year. Fav'ing your picture of this admirable animal.
MAGNIFICENT Hazel!!! I woke up and saw this photo that you had copied me on.....BIGGEST smile EVER!!! What a gorgeous capture.....and I give you a TRIPLE FAV :) Thank you so much :)
Brilliant shot and excellent detail. Ideal shot for World Giraffe Day and the longest day in the UK. Perhaps I should post something with the shortest neck because in Australia it is the shortest day. IBeing the winter solstice). Our days start to get longer now as we head through winter towards spring. .
You are ahead of us, Ivan!!!
I think giraffes have quite a lot of fans!
