mistletoe on trees in a field in Hampshire

I found out today that I qualify for a 4th album on 365 so, having resolved to put not more than 2 pics on each day this year, I foolishly decided to open album no 4! This first shot is dedicated to you Pat @happypat and to you Sophia @sophiaz so that you have at least seen a photo of mistletoe growing on a tree in the wild rather than just a reflection!

A lovely shot with the bare trees

Marvelous! I haven't seen mistletoe growing in the wild since I lived in Virginia.

A beautiful sharp shot. The mistletoe really stands out against that lovely sky.

Lovely tree. I like trees.

Wow - I've never seen so much, we have a tree in the park with one "ball" of mistletoe, but this is great.

Lovely capture, it looks so springlike!

Wow, how cool is this! I've never seen mistletoe on a tree before.

This is a first for me (one of many). I've only seen mistletoe sprigs sold in the store at Christmas.

Cool.

That's a lot of mistletoe!

Really?! I hadn't the faintest idea where mistletoe came from! Congratulations on your new album-- do you plan to do anything else with your life?

@barbcapecod

Thanks, Barbara Sue. I'm pleased to be doing a little bit of education on behalf of mistletoe! Anything else? Well, there's dog walking, cooking, French Lit, Spanish and German conversation, digital photography group (perhaps that doesn't count?!), swimming, lunch with friends, cleaning the house (not too often!).................

@mittens @okbye

There's a lot around here in southern England and I've also seen it in Northern France. It's always tantalizing high in the trees so I still need to buy some if I want to have it at Christmas!

Btw, I did cave in and buy my haupia (how-PEE-ah) today, but it is not very photogenic. Here is a page that shows it: http://www.freecoconutrecipes.com/index.cfm/2011/2/7/coconut-haupia-traditional-hawaiian-coconut-pudding

You live in a beautiful place. Love the sky and the sheep. I haven't seen mistletoe in the wild in a long time.

Good shot that really illustrates the growth of the mistletoe - when it grows on gum trees (that are evergreen) it is not as noticeable. I like the sheep grazing too.

Lovely capture of the sky and the silhouette of the mistletoe and tree

Great find and capture

@cabawg

That's interesting. I think it's always on deciduous trees in England.

@okbye

Oh we have coconut ice which is made from dessicated coconut, sugar and water and sometimes is coloured pink as well as white.
