At the last minute I chickened out of driving my new car from the garage in a busy traffic area. So here's Ray getting the low-down from our helpful salesman, Andy, before driving to a quiet spot up on Portsdown Hill from where I drove the familiar route home. Very nice: comfortable seats, brakes a bit sharp but I hit them too fast only once, altogether very pleased - and I'm not even really interested in cars!
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
How exciting Hazel...unlike you I love cars &would have a new every two years if I could afford. Is this one automatic....I am wondering if I should go down that route next. It looks a great car...can't see the make but you will enjoy it.
Not automatic and I don't fancy that as I like to feel I am driving the car! (One car I DID love was a Mazda MX5 which I bought 2ndhand with a small inheritance from my dad. It was purple metallic! )
Very sporty!! I love my automatic @happypat - with the new ones you can get some umph. I won't use the cruise control though - too much chance of falling asleep!
Super Hazel --but what is it ? I am rather clueless with cars -all I recognise is the colour !! Oh dear you did have some rain spots on it before you got home -- Happy motoring Hazel x
@happypat oh blimey I'd better watch out that I've got it in drive/reverse as appropriate! Reminds me of a story Nigel told me this morning about an old lady in Florida. She came out of the supermarket to see 4 men breaking in to her car so she pulled a gun, shouted 'I'm trained and I'll use it - get away from the car.' They ran away and she was do shaky she couldn't get her key in the lock - and then realised it wasn't her car! So she went and reported it to the police and they said, 'It's ok we've got four men downstairs reporting a car-jacking!!!'
I was hoping somebody might recognise the rear lights! It's a Kia Picanto. The rain held off en route home but the roads were flooded so it's a tad muddy already! (The rain spots were from being parked on the forecourt.)
(From Tina) How brave of you to buy a new car in winter! Are you going to lock it in the garage until the spring or will you just drive round all the puddles! I think I might have been tempted to buy a mud coloured one! Happy motoring (if it ever stops raining).
Congratulations on the new wheels! I think I remember rain. We're in the midst of a drought here on the prairie, which is a very arid place in the wettest of times.
Love your new car, mind you it's due to you're photography as you need to be able to get around to take those much appreciated pictures that both dazzle & delight us, besides, did you notice what wonderful reflections you can capture in the car rear side. Unlimited potential !
Yes, the reflections were an unexpected addition when I looked at what I had taken - i love reflections especially in puddle shots! Thanks for your comment, appreciated!

I'm not sure which could be more dangerous - falling asleep at the wheel or flying off a multi-storey car park! Danger lurks everywhere of course!

Well, Tina, perhaps my new car will change the weather??!!
Well you certainly made me chuckle with this story, Judith!
One thing I find interesting about 365 is the variety of weather being experienced all over the globe AT THE SAME TIME!
Thank you, just getting used to driving it now!
