Meet one of the new neighbors

Behind the new house the neighbors have some livestock. This one's really best on the black background if you have the time.
Maybe he is friendlier than he looks.

Well caught.

It looks like a peacock. Does he have a large fantail that he displays from time to time...especially if he has a female companion?

I do hope you're settling down after the move and that you're adapting to all the changes in your life. You're in my prayers.

I hope he doesn't make too much noise ... they sometimes do! Lovely capture.

What a surprise, nice capture

Lucky you, I love peacocks

I've heard that peacocks are rather loud- hopefully that won't be the case with this one. Good shot!

@tunia I'm not sure, and I doubt that I will get to know him much better. I read today that peacocks can be very dangerous and one shouldn't get too friendly with them. Who knew!?

@kwind @Dawn @haskar @craftymeg @fbailey @pyrrhula @thewatersphotos Thank you Kwind, Dawn, Haskar, Margaret, Felicity, Ferry and Gary for you nice comments.

@s4sayer It is a peacock. I did a little research to try to find out why the body is brown with spots rather than the lovely blues of its head. But didn't find out in the reading I did. I believe it has lost its tail feathers, because I did notice them earlier in the summer. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. I'm still moving households and going through things. That will probably take a while. I'm not rushing. Spend a little time on it most days. The rest of my life is going on. Some the same and of course some very different. I keep busy and that's distracting. A good thing.

@jamibann @olivetreeann My husband thought the peacocks (there are at least 2 of them) were very noisy as do my neighbors. I really haven't noticed them too much. Perhaps I don't spend as much time outside. I enjoy the thought of seeing them from time to time. Apparently before I moved in, they came over to visit and peaked in the doors at the back of the house. My DH took photos of them doing that. Thank you both for your comments.

@randystreat This may be a female Kathy- they are a little duller than their male counterparts but still have the tail feathers. Just a thought!

@olivetreeann In the photos, the females weren't spotted like this and did not have the blue heads. But who knows. Not me. And probably it doesn't really matter in the scheme of things.
