This reminds me of the charts I had for my 4 harness floor loom when I was weaving- same idea in a way. Looks like it's going to be another beautiful project when done.

Thank you one and all. I'm making a hat for the charity our group gives warm items to at Christmas time. Getting a head start. The hat is held on 4 needles using a 5th one to knit. I often use circular needles when knitting in the round but hats are pretty small in circumference and I don't have circular cables small enough. So I start with the double pointed needles. The pattern is not too difficult. I have an app on my tablet that displays the pattern. It has colored rows and lines that one can place on the pattern to see where you are at the moment. You can just barely see it over Row 15. I'm actually only using the pattern on the right. The pattern makes a number of different sizes, hence the three columns of patterns.
@randystreat seeing all three patterns is what confused me, I think! Somehow, I thought you had to do all three of them on this piece, and I was never gonna figure that out!
@haskar Thank you Hannah. Each block represents a stitch in each row. The hat is knit in two colors, so the blocks are white or colored and represent the two colors one uses to knit the hat. Probably too much information. Sorry.
