For some reason I never uploaded this yesterday. A knitting friend of mine recognized the popping sound when I used this counter yesterday. I said I'd never seen or heard of these before I received it as a gift. Her response "you've not been around kids much." Apparently these were toys until some smart knitter/crocheter decided they would make good row counters.
A great idea, I’ve played with a few of these! The grandkids have loads but I wouldn’t have thought of that use!! The modern bubble wrap destress popper!!

@wakelys I was only familiar with the fidget spinner which was all the rage 6+ years ago. This one's almost as fun as bubble wrap. This would be a really small ice cube tray. Maybe to use for one cordial glass. @30pics4jackiesdiamond It's helpful when one remembers to push the little bubble down. If you had one that was a toy, you could write the numbers on it yourself. @craftymeg Yes and it's ecological in that you can 'pop' it over and over again. @rensala Thank you Renee. You're friend might like it. It took me awhile to decide to use it and I'm glad i did. @beverley365 Thank you Beverly. @thewatersphotos Thanks Gary. @haskar I'm working on row one in the photo. The #1 bubble is pushed in. You might need to know that it's a 6-row pattern so 1-6 are repeated over and over and.... Thank you Hannah. @grammyn Thanks Katy. This is a shawl I've been working on. It'll be in Atlanta, finished or not so you can see and touch it. Touching it is heavenly. (soft! Made out of mulberrry silk yarn)
@kjarn I miss out on a lot without children in my life! @dkbarnett Thank you Delwyn. It's starting to get old. It talks almost a half an hour to knit across one row and it's not nearly big enough. @ziggy77 Thank you Jo.

It's all a mystery to me. But if this strange object helps you count rows, then great!
