Sometimes a picture's worth a thousand words but in this case, the story is more interesting. I was waiting on the corner near 5th Avenue and 59th where all the horse carriages begin their journey around Central Park. I watched in amusement as this horse was eating, surrounded by pigeons who were getting in on the leftovers. At first I figured that the horse was carelessly
dropping some of his dinner outside the bucket and the birds were taking advantage of the situation. But No. After eating voraciously for 5 minutes or so, the horse deliberately picked up the bucket and dumped it over, spilling some of the contents into the street so his bird companions could get their fair share! Then he righted the bucket and ate some more. He did this four or five times- each was so quick I couldn't capture it ( I did try). Anyway, I must have watched for about 15 minutes as they dined together curbside in a very unique symbiotic relationship. It was utterly amazing.
Seinfeld reference.
Nice shot.
